‘Taste of the Market’ provides local, healthy food to area kids, families

Families in La Crosse, Crawford and Juneau Counties will be helped

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – More people in our area will get fresh, local foods on their plate thanks to some local organizations.

Volunteers from the ‘Taste of the Market’ effort were at Cameron Park Farmer’s Market collecting packages today.

Packages include fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs and meat.

The food will be distributed to child care sites in La Crosse, Monroe and Juneau Counties.

Organizers say it is a chance for kids to explore.

“The earlier we can get a variety fruits and vegetables into the hands of kids the better their chances are of growing up with a healthier eating pattern,” said The Parenting Place Farm to Early Care education coordinator Amanda Bee.

The monthly project reaches about 300 kids.
