Take precautions during Halloween
The police department is recommending that people follow the guidelines set by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services
LA CROSSE, Wis (WKBT) – Halloween will be here before we know it. If you’re starting to plan now, there are some recommendations to keep everyone safe.
Halloween is not a government holiday or event so it can’t be outright canceled.
The police department is recommending that people follow the guidelines set by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
Traditional house to house trick-or-treating is not recommended this year.
Also, in-person events and celebrations such as costume contests are also being discouraged this year.
“With the numbers being as high as they. the real sound advice coming out of the department of health and services is to not trick or treat. And that is the city of La Crosse’s recommendation,” said Captain Jason Melby, a public information officer with the La Crosse Police Department.
Some safer ways to celebrate the holiday include a virtual costume contest or party.
If your neighborhood does have trick-or-treating, leave individual grab bags or paper cubs with goodies outside your door.
