US officials OK plan to rebuild Isle Royale wolf population

U.S. officials have decided to relocate gray wolves to Isle Royale National Park in Lake Superior, where the predator species that has roamed the remote wilderness for about 70 years is on the brink of disappearing.

Researchers tracking the decline of northern Minnesota's moose population have found wolves are to blame for some of the deaths.

Ranchers cheered by lifting of wolf protections

Western ranchers say they're hopeful the removal of gray wolves from the federal endangered species list will make it easier to hunt the predators and stem losses of cattle and sheep.
