Symptoms of dog flu
Symptoms include runny nose, sneezing and not wanting to eat
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — If the nice weather has you thinking about traveling with your pet, take caution because the dog flu has been confirmed in Wisconsin.
Canine influenza is not transmissible to humans or cats, but can be passed from dog to dog rather quickly.
If you are traveling with you dog, there are some symptoms you should watch out for.
“Runny nose, coughing, sneezing, achy and maybe not wanting to eat. A lot of times they are mild symptoms, the problem comes with high fever and it turns into pneumonia,” said Jean Heyt, a veterinarian at Thomson Animal Hospital.
To protect your dog, there is a vaccine available. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask your vet.
