Sustainability Report show progress, opportunity for local government
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — La Crosse is making progress when it comes to going green.
A report that looks at local governments and their sustainability efforts was presented to city leaders Thursday night.
The city of La Crosse has decreased its energy use by about 9.5 percent over the past decade.
For La Crosse County the numbers are even better. The County uses about 14.5 percent less energy than it did ten years ago.
“And this indicator report shows us where the low hanging fruit is and where we can focus our efforts to improve future energy utilization,” said Rick Cornforth, Chair of Sustainable La Crosse.
This is the 10th year of the study.
