Students pack 52,000 meals for those in need at iFeed event

An effort by local high school students is helping feed the hungry.

It’s all thanks to a campaign called iFeed put on by clubs at Logan, Central, Aquinas, Holmen and West Salem High Schools.

The campaign is a two part event: helping feed the hungry here in the Coulee Region but also people overseas.

On Saturday, the clubs held a food drive for local food pantries and also made pre-packaged meals to send to people living in Nicaragua.

In the span of four hours the volunteers were able to package about 52,000 meals.

“To be able to help people nternationally is such a great feeling, but to help people right in your community just makes it all the more worth while because you know how much kids are suffering here and you just want to help them,” said Annie Eber, a senior at Central High School.

More than 500 volunteers took part in the event.
