Students learn robotics, design during first-hand lesson on engineering at Trane
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A firsthand lesson on robotics and design was part of an engineering tour and event for area students.
Local 8th graders visited Trane in La Crosse Wednesday morning to take part in a LEGO car design competition, to celebrate National Engineer’s Week. The students also came up with detailed instructions for people acting as robots to create their car designs.
Trane says the vehicle design competition is meant to create an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics careers.
“It’s great to get an idea of what people in careers do when they’re trying to figure out what they want to do with their future. Is engineering something they want to do? They can come here and see what engineers do, and get a taste of it that they might not get at school,” said Trane Marketing Engineer Caitlin Bohnert.
The students also toured the La Crosse Trane facility after their car design competition.
Trane will host students from other area schools for the same event Thursday and Friday.
