Students in La Crosse learn the impacts of drugs, mental health crisis
Community discussion coming Wednesday
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The impact of addiction is bringing together educators and students for discussions in our area.
Members of the ‘Rise Together’ organization stopped at Longfellow Middle School in La Crosse to help talk to kids about the dangers drugs pose.
The Wisconsin-based group discussed the impact of drugs and mental health concerns.
When the kids hear the stories of recovery from people that have lived through major issues, the message is more likely to have an impact.
“It’s a really powerful message that comes through. Most times when they’re speaking, you can hear a pin drop in the room,” Rita Von Haden with the La Crosse Country Prevention Network.
Rise Together, along with the La Crosse County Prevention Network, will host a free event tomorrow for community members.
Discussions will focus on area kids and preventing substance misuse.
The event will take place Wednesday starting at 6 in the evening.
It will be held at Stoney Creek Inn and Conference Center in Onalaska.
