Students experience career options at event in Winona

Students are learning about career options at an event Friday in La Crosse.

More than 1,300 students from around the area were at Student Career Exploration Expo at Minnesota State College Southeast.

Students learned about jobs in careers like manufacturing, health and human services and education.

The event is held in a trade-show-like environment with hands-on, interactive exhibits.

Organizers say that knowledge will help open up opportunities for students.

“Your not just a nurse, just a teacher, just a machinist, you have a plethora of options, so for our students to understand what their options are and what they’re really drawn to, they need to really see what all of those options are,” said Nicole Schossow, Business Education Network program manager.

Nearly 75 area businesses were on hand for the event.
