Students and volunteers celebrate progress on new garden education project
LA CROSSE (Wis.) WKBT — Following a partnership between Hamilton Early Learning Center and GROW as well as the combined efforts of many community organizations, The Edible Schoolyard is nearly complete.
The project, which sprouted from student-created design ideas, is a unique outdoor learning experience that will provide garden education to the students.
Volunteers and teachers gathered on Thursday to join the students in celebrating the progress that has been made and allow students to showcase what has already been accomplished.
45 plants ranging from fruit trees to shrubs were installed by students and volunteers on October 24th, and GROW says that one of the most exciting parts of the project has been the collaborative efforts of both the school and the community in cultivating an innovative educational experience.
