Streets in Onalaska closing for construction on Monday
ONALASKA, Wis, (WKBT) — Crews in Onalaska are closing two busy streets this week.
Braund Street from Highway 16 to County Highway PH will be closed, as well as East Main Street from Theater Road to Market Place.
Both roads are being closed to through traffic for repaving.
The project on Braund Street is expected to take about three weeks.
From Monday June 11th to Wednesday June 13th, there is no access to Braund Street from Highway 16. On Thursday, June 14th, a small section will be opened from Highway 16 to allow shoppers to reach the Subway, Verizon, and Payless Shoes driveways.
Residents along Braund Street will still be able to access their driveways, but the Public Works department warns that drivers may have to wait until it is safe to drive up to their homes.
The project on East Main Street is expected to take about five weeks.
Drivers will have limited access at East Main Street and Theater Road, and no through traffic will be allowed on East Main Street from Theater Road to Market Place.
The City of Onalaska recommends using State Highway 157 and State Highway 16 as an alternate route during this construction. Residents along East Main Street, including Meadow Wood and Elmwood Hills subdivisions, will be able to access their driveways, but the City of Onalaska warns that drivers may have to wait for construction activities until it’s safe to reach their homes.
If you have any questions regarding the projects, you can reach the City of Onalaska Engineering/Public Works department at (608) 781-9537.
