Steve Toft announces candidacy for Congress, stops in La Crosse
Will challenge Ron Kind next year
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A hopeful for Congress stopped in La Crosse Monday afternoon.
Steve Toft, a retired U.S. Army veteran from Osseo, is challenging Congressional Representative Ron Kind next year.
He is running for the seat as a Republican, emphasizing a need to bring government power back to the states. He also wants to pass tax reform that will help workers while strengthening Wisconsin’s largest fields, manufacturing and farming.
Toft says he can bring reform to the country’s health care with his experience as a military hospital administrator.
“That is probably the closest that I’ve seen to a real effective health care bill, one that provides money to the states for our government to be able to provide health care for our state’s citizens,” said Toft.
Toft first announced his candidacy for Ron Kind’s Congressional seat on October 20.
