Steppin’ Out In Pink goes virtual
There is still time to form a team and register
LA CROSSE, Wis (WKBT) – Due to the coronavirus pandemic, many organizations have had to get a little creative with their fundraising efforts.
That includes Gundersen Health System’s annual “Steppin’ Out in Pink”, which is going to take place virtually.
The annual event is a walk for breast cancer awareness, with all proceeds going to research within the coulee region.
Event planners are hoping people will register and walk with small groups and families.
Organizers like Development Specialist Tia Sneath, are hoping people will still take the time to donate and raise funds, “We still need that support, research is still being done. Our survivors need their support, our patients need their support. We are just hoping that people still want to give.”
This event is significant to many in the community.
Many people have close friends or family members who have suffered from breast cancer.
Survivors like Jodi Zimmerman especially can attest to the importance of events like Steppin out in Pink, “To see this type of turnout, and participants and the money raised, it kind of help that thought, that you’re not in this alone. You have people that are backing you. And it makes it a little bit easier to know that you’re not alone, that’s the big thing.”
There is still time to form a team and register.
