Staying safe during holiday gatherings
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The pandemic is changing how we spend time together.
As friends and family gather for the holidays, there are some important things to keep in mind before embracing your loved ones.
Health experts from Mayo Clinic say people are most contagious for COVID-19 just before symptoms start showing up.
And because it’s pretty tough to enjoy food and drinks while wearing a mask, it’s important to be aware that there is an increased risk of spreading the virus.
Plus, once those holiday ‘spirits’ kick in, you may find yourself talking louder, pushing potentially infectious droplets further than usual.
And though you want to catch up after months of isolation, make sure you’re still sitting at least six feet apart from one another.
Health experts know how important these holiday traditions are, but spending time away from each other this year will ensure your celebrations can carry on in 2021.
