State Senator Tom Tiffany wins Wisconsin special election to replace Sean Duffy in Congress
MADISON, Wis. (AP)- Republican Tom Tiffany wins a special election in Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional district to replace former Republican U.S. Representative Sean Duffy.
Voters in northern Wisconsin donned masks and minded their personal space Tuesday in the state’s second pandemic election in little more than a month.
The election pit Tiffany, who is closely aligned with President Donald Trump, against Wausau School Board President Tricia Zunker who is backed by liberals. She was looking to become the state’s first Native American elected to Congress.
The 7th District is in a swatch of northwestern Wisconsin that Trump carried by 20 points four years ago.
Duffy, a former star on MTV’s “Real World,” has held the seat since 2011 and remains a vocal Trump backer.
