STAR competition gives students chance to show of skills in La Crosse

Star students showed off their skills at a competition Friday in La Crosse.

The regional competition of the Family Career and Community Leaders of America was held at Western Technical College.

The Students Taking Action with Recognition, or STAR, competition gives students the chance to show their skills.

Competitions were held in categories like public speaking and entrepreneurship.

Students use the day to take lessons out of the classroom.

“For many of these students, they’ve already done first steps to their projects, they’ve already learned this content, this is just a way for them to apply it outside of the classroom and apply it in a way like I mentioned before that really impacts others,” said Britta Rotering, FCCLA Advisor at G-E-T High School

About 250 students from 16 school districts took part in the event.
