LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — St. Clare Health Mission, a free clinic in La Crosse, has been recognized for its excellent health care.

The mission was awarded the Bronze Seal of Excellence from the Wisconsin Association of Free & Charitable Clinics in January. According to WAFCC, “Seal of Excellence recipients demonstrate a commitment to promoting best-practices and maximizing access to quality health care for the most vulnerable by achieving all WAFCC Standards of Excellence required and optimal evidence.”

Dennis Skrajewski, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Association of Free & Charitable Clinics, explains; “We want to acknowledge the hard work, dedication, and commitment St. Clare Health Mission has made to promote best-practices and maximize access to quality healthcare for the most vulnerable in their community.”

The Standards of Excellence are a dynamic tool that offers measurable guidance for free and charitable clinics to meet the quality challenges of health care delivery. Skrajewski adds, “We created the Standards of Excellence to promote quality care among Wisconsin’s free and charitable clinics serving the uninsured, underserved, economically and socially disadvantaged, marginalized and vulnerable populations of Wisconsin.”

Executive Director Jason Larsen said, “As a newer clinic director, it’s a great asset to have these standards as a goal post to enrich the care of those in greatest need. This is a great step for St. Clare Health Mission as we work towards the Gold Standard of Excellence.”
