Spring Grove celebrates their first ever state football title

Caledonia weren’t the only ones celebrating a championship today. Spring Grove also celebrated their victory in the nine-man class.

They defeated Nevis 32-0 to go undefeated on the season. This was the Lions first football state title in the school’s history.

Both players and coaches said that even when they were down they never gave up hope.

“Even when we were down by big numbers we still came back and came out on top and beating the team that took us out of the state tournament how many years in a row, that felt amazing,” said Spring Grove senior, Sam Sanness.

Spring Grove says they hope to continue their streak with their returning juniors next year.

The story has been corrected to include the correct name of the football team, the Spring Grove Lions.
