LA CROSSE, WI - The Viterbo Volleyball team coming into the new season as one of the top squads in the NAIA. V-Hawks ranked 6th in the first polls.
And they wasted no time showing why they are one of the favorites in 2017.
Over the weekend, the V-Hawks welcomed three ranked teams to the R.W. Beggs Senior Gymnasium, and beat all 3, dropping only 2 sets all weekend.
This type of success is nothing new for Viterbo, with back to back final fours in 2014 and 15 and tying a school record in wins with 42 in 2016.
But this year's roster maybe the most talented.
"I've been looking forward to this season since the first day after last season. Looking forward to our freshman coming in. We have a really strong freshman class. I've been looking forward to this, having high hopes this whole time. We've really proven ourselves I think," Senior Amelia Grahn said.
"We are always a family. We always love each other on and off the court. We just have a trust in each other and that trust allows us to play together a lot better as a team than most teams are able to," Junior Aubrey Aspen said.
"We just have to make sure we are up for every match. Teams obviously notice us. That's a good thing, but that's also a thing we have to recognize and understand that every night out they are going to give us their best shot. So we need to make sure we do the same," Head coach Ryan DeLong said.
