LAS VEGAS - Heading into the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Matt Thomas made a last second switch. Feeling there was a better opportunity with the Lakers he accepted the roster invite from Los Angeles over the Toronto Raptors.
It turned out to be a pretty good decision.
Thomas scored 23 points helping the Lakers to a 110-98 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers for the 2017 Las Vegas NBA Summer League Championship.
The Onalaska graduate was a fixture in the starting lineup as he averaged 15 points and shot 69-percent from the field (27-39) and 71-percent from behind the arc (17-24) in the five tournament round games.
Thomas' 23 point performance in the title game was a summer league personal best. Kyle Kuzma led the Lakers with 30 points and was named the MVP of the game.
