"Team First" for Blackhawks in 2017

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, WI - Winning in week 1 is nothing new for the Prairie du Chien football team.  3 of the last 4 years, the Blackhawks have come out victorious in week 1.

It's the rest of the way where the team wants to improve in 2017.  Prairie du Chien went 3-6 last season.

And this year's roster is young, with only 8 seniors.

The Blackhawks will be the first ones to tell you there isn't a star player on the roster, but instead the whole team is ready for their number to be called.

"Were not stat watching on this team.  We are all about team and all that matters is the scoreboard to us. We don't care about stats individually.  We are just all about getting that win and meeting our team goals.  That's the best part about being a complete team and not having an individual standout," Senior Cory Check said.

"You have all those guys are on the sidelines backing you up.  You have other guys backing you up, picking you up when you are running the ball and fall down.  It helps completely.  It doesn't just boost your momentum, but it boosts the team momentum.  It boosts the defenses momentum, it gets everybody going.   Everybody picking each other up like that is awesome," Junior Tyler Smock said.
