HAYWARD, WI - The Lumberjack World Championships in Hayward Wisconsin wrapped up the 58th Annual competition this weekend. Many local competitors placed. For results of local competitors keep reading.
Connor Birdsong, a rookie in the professional men’s log rolling, finished 3rd place in the professional men’s division. Followed by older brother Garrick Birdsong in 6th place and Efer Christopherson of Bangor finished 9th place. Garrick is originally from Onalaska and attends UW- Stevens Point. Connor just graduated from Onalaska High School and will start his college career at UW-L in the fall of 2017. Connor celebrated his 18th birthday over the weekend at the World Championships! Connor has had a fantastic rookie year kicked off by winning the US Log Rolling Open in Orland Park, IL, taking 3rd at the La Crosse Open, tie for 5th at Midwest Championships and 3rd at Three Rivers Roleo.
Emily Christopherson placed 5th in the professional women’s division. Emily, original from the area, currently trains in Onalaska Wisconsin at the Great River Landing for a few weeks of the summer and resides in Portland, Oregon as a 4th grade teacher.
Men’s professional boom run Connor Birdsong took 5th place in his first go at the Lumberjack World Championships.
Women’s professional boom run Katie Rick placed 4th place with a fast time of the weekend of 15.6. Katie is the director of Three Rivers Roleo in Onalaska and at some point along with Susan Bulk has coached each roller on this list. Katie resides in Onalaska, WI. Each of the rollers has trained in the La Crosse area including the Y and Onalaska Park and Rec.
