Aquinas volleyball head coach Bri Ebenhoe is about as 'Blugold' as they make 'em.
The former Aquinas volleyball player now teaches an array of Science classes at her alma mater. Bri even met her husband and current assistant coach Matt at school here.
And these players? They can't seem to get away from Coach Bri either.
"Every single one of these seniors I had as middle school students. I coached a few of them in clubs. It seems like this has been six years in the making for a lot of these kids."
"I remember specifically dropping my pencil in religion class and she gave me an infraction for disrupting the class," said senior Danielle Dolan. "I was very intimidated by her."
Seven seasons of work later, the Ebenhoe's watched this past week as the postseason turned to pandemonium.
Revenge over Regis in sectional semis, followed by a grind it out five set thriller with Grantsburg.
That has given six seniors and their former middle school teacher one last field trip. It's onto Green Bay for the first WIAA state appearance in program history.
"It was even better than what we thought it would be," said senior Shayna Nickelatti. "We all thought of the moment -- like what if that is us, and it was us."
From the star senior Courtney Conway, to the freshman sensation Lexi Donarski, this team can really hit. The worst place to be this year? Is on the other side of the net.
"We are a good enough team and we are in this spot for a reason, so if we go out there we can prove our point," said Conway.
Sheboygan area powerhouse Howard's Grove is next up, Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the Resch Center.
"Every year we learn more and more, keep getting better and better, now it has turned into this," added Ebenhoe.
