Sports Spotlight: G-E-T track’s Davis Wenthe

G-E-T track senior Davis Wenthe is the latest spring athlete in our Sports Spotlight.

Last spring Wenthe was a state champion in the 300 meter hurdles, a runner-up in the 110 hurdles, 4th in high jump, and part of the fifth-placed 4×400 relay team.

He missed the state record in the 300 hurdles last year by a tenth of a second, and that second place finish in the 110’s was the only race he lost last year. This spring he was hoping for a perfect season and that state record in the 300’s, and he was training hard to do it. He even gave up a winter sport to keep training for track, so the season being suspended has been a gut punch.

But the passion for the sport does not take a hit, because Wenthe will continue his track career next year as a Wisconsin Badger.
