Sports Spotlight 5-22: Mari Stafslien-Dumale

Central senior Mari Stafslien-Dumale is the latest athlete in our Sports Spotlight.

Mari has done a little bit of everything athletically, including softball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, track and powerlifting. She’s found a ton of success in powerlifting. In every year of high school, she placed at state and had the chance to go to nationals. Her freshman year, she won the state title and took first at nationals in Orlando, Florida. She took third at nationals the next year and was able to represent the United States at the Pan Am Games, where she earned a gold medal in her weight class.

Mari also played four years of volleyball and was looking forward to her final year of track and field as a top shot put and discus thrower.

Mari’s also done a phenomenal job off the field. She’s maintained a 4.0 GPA and is a 4-year member of National Honor Society. She and her good friend Emma Scott also played a big role in fundraising efforts last year for Coach Bott in his battle against cancer.

Mari even continues to volunteer for local food pantries in La Crosse County.

She plans to attend UWL after graduation to study exercise physiology.
