Spelling Bee in West Salem showcases skills, competitive spirit
Sapphire was this year's winning word
WEST SALEM, Wis. (WKBT) – Students around our area spent Thursday spelling their way to a title.
CESA 4 hosted a regional spelling bee in West Salem.
27 students from 15 schools in our area faced off during the competition.
The winner, Holmen Middle School’s Simran Virk, and four other finalists now advance to the Badger State Spelling Bee in March.
Winners from that competition will advance to the National Spelling Bee in May.
While the event can fun, the kids are looking to prove they are the best.
“Well, I really competition, I like doing competing in different things,” said spelling bee participant Quinn Williams.
Sapphire was this year’s winning word.
