Sparta’s Ben Bikin rolls way to title as largest bicyclist statue in world

SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) — Sparta’s best-known resident is now a world record holder.

Ben Bikin gets the title as the largest bicyclist statue in the world, according to World Record Academy.

Ben stands 32 feet high on top of a 1890s-era Penny Farthing Bicycle. The FAST Fiberglass created the statue more than 25 years ago.

“I think it’s a huge deal,” said Heide Prestwood, executive director of the Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce. “It’s a tourist attraction that brings a lot of bike enthusiasts to the bicycling capital of America, so it’s a big deal.”

Ben is on Wisconsin Street near Water Street.
