Sparta superintendent resigns after harassment investigation

SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) — Sparta School District Superintendent Amy Van Deuren has resigned her position, according to a school district press release.

Van Deuren submitted resignation to the school board, which will act on it when it meets this month.

The resignation comes after an investigation found that Van Deuren repeatedly violated the district’s anti-bullying and anti-harassment policies. That investigation can be found here.

According to the release, “Both the District and Dr. Van Deuren acknowledge that no unlawful harassment occurred. In addition, although the Board and Dr. Van Deuren are not in agreement concerning each of the investigator’s findings, both sides would like to see the District move forward in a positive direction.”
