Sparta Police host coffee meet and greet
Coffee with a Cop hosted at Ginny's Cupboard
SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) — Sparta residents were getting to know their police officers Tuesday.
The Sparta Police Department hosted their second ‘Coffee with a Cop’ meet and greet at Ginny’s Cupboard in downtown Sparta.
The event does not include an agenda or any speeches; it was just a chance for people to sit down and get to know local police officers. The officers enjoy the experience as well, saying it gives them a less stressful way to meet members of the public.
“In a lot of situations when we talk to people it’s in an emergency situation, there’s a lot of stress involved whether it’s a medical call, a traffic crash. So getting to meet people just in a relaxed, neutral setting just sharing a cup of coffee, I don’t think there’s really any more relaxed way to get to know someone,” said Sparta Police Department Officer Justin Grose.
The event picks back up tonight from six to eight and is open to the public.
