Snowflake Ski Club hosts 99th annual ski jump tournament near Westby
WESTBY, Wis. (WKBT)- Timber Coulee outside of Westby is hosting its annual Snowflake Ski Jumping Tournament.
This is the 99th year of the tournament.
Last night and this afternoon, competitors from all over the Midwest took to the skies in the big hill and junior hill competitions.
The entire event is ran by volunteers.
Organizers say that an event this big helps the entire Westby community.
“It’s probably 3,000 people today I would guess, a lot of years it’s 4 or 5 thousand but it’s pretty cold. Brings a lot of money to the community and it just keeps the community real tight together and we get a lot of help from the City,” said Snowflake Ski Club President, Tom Ellefson.
The snowflake ski club president says that ski jumps like the one outside of Westby aren’t very common across the country and that’s a big reason why it draws a lot of people.
