Slim Your Screen Time challenge aims to improve community’s mental health

Mayo Clinic Health System is encouraging people to reconnect with their community and their environment with the Slim Your Screen Time challenge.

The Slim Your Screen Time challenge is an effort to get people to improve their mental health through outdoor activities. To complete the challenge, people need to finish 30 of more than 100 suggested outdoor activities between June and July.

Cindy Shireman, Mayo’s sustainability coordinator, said Mayo saw a need to improve the community’s mental health and that studies show time outdoors can help, especially if you share that time with someone else.

“We need people in our lives. We’re social beings. That’s how we flourish and thrive and support each other,” said Shireman.
