Hot Start To July!

There were scattered showers and t-storms Monday afternoon and evening. The good news is for the most part, they remained below severe levels with just one report of wind damage near the town of Burns, WI. Rainfall was hit and miss, depending on if your location was in the path of one of these storms.

Monday Rainfall Reports

Today will again be very warm and humid with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.  A weak boundary will be stretched west to east across the region and will cause at least a slight chance of scattered showers and t-storms. Afternoon heat indices could creep into the mid-upper 90s in some spots, especially the valleys.

This Morning’s Surface Map

Any showers will quickly taper by sunset this evening, or shortly thereafter. Expect mostly clear skies overnight, with mild and muggy conditions. Light winds could lead to patchy valley fog late tonight into early Wednesday morning. Expect lows ranging from the low-mid 60s (north/east) to the low 70s.

Wednesday is going to be a hot one! Expect a dry day with sunny to partly cloudy skies. Highs will likely be in the 90-95F range, with humidity remaining high. This could cause afternoon and early evening heat indices (what it feels like) in the 98-103F range. You’ll want to take it easy outdoors Wednesday afternoon and drink plenty of water. Don’t forget about your pets as well!

Looking Ahead… A stronger cold front will bring a chance of showers and t-storms late Wednesday night into Thursday. The front and rain chances Thursday will knock high temps into the mid-upper 80s. Friday is looking mainly dry with mostly sunny skies, and highs in the upper 80s.

8 Day Build 3

A little relief from the heat is expected by the weekend with highs in the mid and possibly upper 80s. It won’t be quite as humid either, meaning overnight lows will be able to drop into the mid 60s. I can’t fully rule out at least small chances for showers and t-storms with any weak disturbances or boundaries that could be near our area… but expect plenty of dry time each day.

Warmer again Monday with highs in the upper 80s to around 90F. Slight chance of showers and storms next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Have a good Tuesday! -Bill Graul
