Slight Chance Light Snow Or Flurries Later Today For Some

Dry Saturday... Then a windy Sunday
Bill Graul

Friday’s Forecast High: 38F / Tonight’s Low: 23F – Last updated on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 8:30 AM…

The latest forecast model data continues to track a weak clipper system farther south. What that means for our area is the chance for any accumulating snow for La Crosse and points north & east… have decreased. Parts of SE Minnesota and NE Iowa could still see minor snow accumulations less than an inch, perhaps down towards Prairie du Chien as well. (See expected snowfall graphic below) The timing for the chance of light snow showers or flurries will be from mid afternoon through about midnight. The snow showers could be mixed with light rain showers or sprinkles during the afternoon, in locations where temps are above freezing.

Potential Snowfall Later Friday Afternoon and Night

Otherwise, expect mainly cloudy conditions today, but temps will still be above average with highs in the mid-upper 30s. Slight chance of light snow showers or flurries will continue this evening, especially south. Otherwise expect mostly cloudy skies overnight, perhaps partial clearing toward sunrise. Lows will range from the mid-upper teens (north) to mid 20s (south).

A bit colder Saturday with a mix of sun and clouds. Highs will be in the upper 20s to low 30s. Mostly cloudy Sunday and windy, as another clipper races across the region… this time to our north and east. It will bring a slight chance of light snow showers or flurries, especially across northern and eastern parts of Wisconsin. Winds will be from the west around 15-30 mph, with gusts over 35 mph possible in wind prone open areas and across higher terrain.

Looking Ahead… Partly sunny Monday with highs in the mid 30s. Colder Tuesday with a slight chance of light snow showers. Highs will be in the upper teens to low-mid 20s.

Partly sunny Wednesday with seasonable highs in the mid 20s. Slight chances for light snow showers or flurries Thursday and Friday. Highs warm into the mid-upper 30s Wednesday, then drop back into the mid-upper 20s for Friday. Mostly cloudy next Saturday with highs in the upper 20s.

Happy Friday and have a great weekend! -Bill Graul
