Shoppers buy local during ‘Pink Friday’ tour
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A traveling crew of shoppers is showing their support for local businesses in celebration of Pink Friday.
“We’ve been in Sparta, we’ve been in Stoddard, we’ve been in downtown la Crosse, and we’re headed to Onalaska next,” explained Ashley Alderson, the CEO and founder of The Boutique Hub.
The Boutique Hub, which is based in Onalaska, gathered a group of holiday customers to bus them to local boutiques and businesses.
Pink Friday is a day where everyone is encouraged to shop at local businesses before they hit up big-box retailers on Black Friday.
The owner of Willow Boutique, Ashley Dzurko, says shopping small is important.
“You’re supporting local people, you’re supporting local families, the money that comes into this store gets redistributed into the community,” says Dzurko. “My child goes to a daycare so that’s supporting a local business, the grocery stores that I support, when you support a local business, that money stays in the community and helps better the community.”
20 stores in Western Wisconsin are participating in The Boutique Hub’s Pink Friday movement, along with 3,000 stores nationwide.
