Sheriff’s Office: Tornado touched down in Osseo without warning

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT)– An EF-1 tornado touched down in Osseo this morning without warning, according to the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office. The estimated peak wind reached 105 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service in La Crosse said the brief tornado occurred during the early morning hours on Sunday. It started at 12:50 a.m. and continued through the area until 12:57 a.m.

Numerous trees were snapped or uprooted and several farm buildings were damaged. Trempealeau County Emergency Management provided the NWS with photos and videos.

The damage began about four miles west-southwest of Osseo and continued east-southeast before ending roughly three miles south of Osseo. The tornado’s path stretched 3.65 miles at a maximum width of 200 yards.

No one was injured during the tornado.

The NWS said the information is preliminary and may be subject to change pending a final review and publication.
