Several dozen kids participate in Rudolph’s Dash

An area event Saturday aimed at getting kids active.

The Rudolph’s Dash was a part of the La Crosse Area YMCA’s Jingle Bell Run. The day featured a 5K and 5-mile run for adults, and a few sprinting events for kids.

The Y said these runs are a great way to keep kids active in the winter.

“Sometimes in the winter it can be tough to get outside. (Kids can) kind of stay inside and don’t get as much movement, and obviously at the Y we want to get kids moving, so getting them outside and having an event where they can get outside and run around,” Shawn McClone, community and special event director for the YMCA, said.

About 70 kids between 3 and 10 years old participated in the races.

The next race in the YMCA’s winter series is the News Years Resolution run on Jan. 9.
