Seniors in Onalaska have a holiday dance party thanks to local students

UW-La Crosse students teamed up with the Onalaska Parks and Recreation Department for ‘Rocking Around the Omni Center’ Saturday.

Senior citizens could shake their stuff to music from a live band at the holiday-themed dance

They could treat themselves to free refreshments, a chance to win prizes and an opportunity get together and chat with fellow seniors citizens.

Evan Kotter, a senior at UW-La Crosse, said this experience will help him and his classmates when it’s time to find a job.

“This is directly related to what I’d like to do: programming. And it just gives me a leg up on other people, having actually run a program prior to graduation,” said Kotter.

Students say over 50 people showed up to do dances like the Fox Trot and the Waltz.
