Senator Baldwin, Representative Kind hear local concerns about pre-existing conditions
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The future of health care in the U.S. is uncertain, but a couple of Wisconsin’s federal representatives are hoping to be voices for those with pre-existing conditions.
Senator Tammy Baldwin and Representative Ron Kind heard concerns from Wisconsinites in the La Crosse area Friday.
The listening session comes as President Trump again calls for the Affordable Care Act to be overturned. Baldwin says a repeal would threaten the health care of 20-million Americans.
“I’m pressing for a resolution to be passed in the Senate that would direct the Trump administration to actually defend the Affordable Care Act so that we can get about the task to strengthening it and improving it and expanding access,” said Baldwin.
Republican lawmakers have promised to protect the requirement to cover pre-existing conditions. Senator Baldwin doubts those claims since they’ve never proposed a replacement to the A.C.A.
