Sen. Jennifer Shilling named ‘Legislator of the Year’
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Sen. Jennifer Shilling got a big honor Thursday.
The “Wisconsin Public Health Association” and the “Wisconsin Association of Local Health Departments and Boards” named Sen. Shilling of La Crosse ‘Legislator of the Year.’
The groups are made up of more than 1,000 state and local public health officials. They say Shilling’s track record of improving health care for families, and overall work in public health makes her a perfect example of the groups’ mission.
For shilling, the mission wouldn’t be possible without help from the community.
“I really am honored and flattered to be recognized for this and for the many issues that they have brought forward to me, that I can be an advocate so I can amplify the good work that they are doing in La Crosse County and really around the state for our public health partners,” said Sen. Shilling.
Shilling says her work fighting for public health started almost 25 years ago while serving on the La Crosse County Board.
