Sen. Baldwin endorses revised North American trade agreement

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Wisconsin Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin says she will vote for President Trump’s revamped North American free trade agreement.

Sen. Baldwin says that President’s Trump’s version of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada agreement fell short, but she supports the improvements House Democrats made to the pact and she now supports it.Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI)

Baldwin said the deal increases market access for Wisconsin dairy farmers and cheese makers and called it a better agreement for farmers, manufacturers, businesses and workers than the previous pact.

“Thankfully, when the House of Representatives and Speaker Pelosi took this up and did some additional negotiating, we really strengthened those provisions so that they really are enforceable,” said Sen. Baldwin. “We have to be vigilant, but I do believe now that this is a step in the right direction.”

Sen. Baldwin says she is prepared to vote ‘yes’ when the legislation heads to the floor of the Senate.
