Semi unit starts on fire after driver stops to let dog out

No one was injured after a semi unit caught fire early Friday morning on I-94 in the Town of Millston in Jackson County.

Black River Falls Fire Chief Steve Schrieber said the driver of the semi stopped to let his dog out, saw fire coming from the semi tractor and called 911.

The incident happened at about 12:10 a.m. at mile post 128 on westbound I-94 in the Town of Millston

When Black River Falls firefighters arrived on scene, the semi tractor was fully engulfed in flames.

Chief Schrieber said the semi tractor is a total loss and the empty semi trailer was also damaged. The damage estimate is not known at this time. The unit was insured.

Twelve firefighter from the Black River Falls Fire Department and the Township of Lincoln (Warrens) Fire Department were on scene for two hours.
