Semi-truck spilled half its load of organic whey in crash that blocked WI-27
CRISTIANA, Wis. (WKBT) — The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office released a report about the overturned semi-truck that temporarily blocked all lanes of State Highway 27 on Friday.
The semi-truck was traveling north in the Township of Christiana when the crash happened at 3:15 p.m., according the report. It says the semi-truck driver overcorrected to get out of the right shoulder and then overturned on its passenger side due to the weight of the organic whey it was carrying in its trailer.
The sheriff’s office says the semi-truck slid about 100 feet and spilled about half of its load of organic whey after the top lid of the trailer was broken open. The driver was taken to Vernon Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, says the report.
All lanes of WI-27 were opened to traffic again at 8:22 p.m. according to the Wisconsin DOT.
The Wisconsin DNR and Vernon County Emergency Management were also on the scene.
