Saturday Art Market kicks off in the Main Street Plaza

The event is in partnership with Downtown Mainstreet, the La Crosse Arts Initiative, and the Pump House Regional Arts Center

LA CROSSE, Wis (WKBT) – Local artists are getting an opportunity to safely sell their work during the pandemic.

The Saturday Art Market began this weekend with artists who were planning to exhibit at Artspire.

The event is in partnership with Downtown Mainstreet, the La Crosse Arts Initiative, and the Pump House Regional Arts Center.

Most of the local fairs and markets have been changed due to the coronavirus pandemic and many local artists depend on these events to make a living.

So markets like these are incredibly important to the artists in our area.

“We did not make the decision to open until Thursday, and so to get a hold of everybody and for them to kind of pop quickly today was short notice, but they were very anxious to get out and to the public,” said Robin Moses, the Executive Director of Downtown Mainstreet La Crosse.

The Saturday Art Market Will take place each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through October 10th. That is dependent upon weather conditions and recommendations by the La Crosse County Health Department.
