Salvation Army kicks off ‘Feed the Kids’ program
1,500 lunches packed each week
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Area children won’t be missing lunch just because its summer vacation.
The Salvation army is kicking off the 10th year of its Feed the Kids program. The program delivers free lunches to children in low income areas in La Crosse Volunteers will be making 1,500 bag lunches each week. If you do the math that’s about 300 kids a day.
“We’ve had a lot of donations already brought in, but we’re really shy on drinks, so juice boxes bottled water, that type of thing we could really use that, ” said the program’s coordinator, Vicky Martin.
Any child in the La Crosse School District who qualifies for free of reduce lunches the pick up the meals. You can drop off food or drink donations at The Salvation Army on 8th and State Street in La Crosse.
