Salvation Army in need of volunteers to assist shelter staff
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The Salvation Army offers a warm place to stay so people aren’t left out in the cold, but the organization is badly in need of volunteers.
Volunteers are needed to help staff the warming shelter because of the increased capacity from the weather.
Salvation Army volunteer staff say the work is important for the community.
“We have only two people over night and you have 90 people to take care of, it can be a little bit overwhelming so essentially we’re just asking volunteers to lend a hand here and there,” said Alex Riley, Volunteer Coordinator, Salvation Army of La Crosse County.
The shelter will have an increased capacity for the next few days.
Anyone interested in helping is asked to call the Salvation Army at (608) 782-6126.
