Sale of Winona YMCA canceled
WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) — The purchase agreement between the Winona Family YMCA and Partners in Excellence for the sale of the current YMCA facility has been canceled.
Bill Soper, Winona YMCA Interim CEO, and Bruce Thomas, of Partners in Excellence, made the announcement Monday, saying the decision to terminate the agreement was made cooperatively in order to accommodate the timeframe needed by the YMCA to stay in the existing building until the new Y facility is completed.
According to a press release from the YMCA, the new Y facility would not be ready in time to meet the purchase agreement deadline. Partners in Excellence did not want to enforce the purchase agreement, which would have resulted in disruption of YMCA operations.
Partners in Excellence is an autism treatment center with facilities in La Crosse, North St. Paul, Burnsville, and Minnetonka.
The Winona Family YMCA remains confident that there will be interest in the existing facility, that another interested party will come forward, Soper said.
