Safety tips for returning to school

For parents of college-bound students, be prepared to have honest conversations about their habits away from home

LA CROSSE, Wis (WKBT) – With the start of the school year closing in, parents of young children and college-bound students may have many questions regarding safety.

For parents who are thinking about sending their kids back to K-12, UW Health says you should review the school’s safety procedures.

Make sure you know if they’re required to wear a face mask or not.

Look for the school’s policy on physical distancing and testing if someone is believed to have contracted the virus.

For parents of college-bound students, be prepared to have honest conversations about their habits away from home.

Some college-aged students may not follow the guidelines as strictly as they would, which could be dangerous when they come home to visit.

If you as a parent are at high risk of having a severe COVID-19 case, you may want to restrict home visits if your child is taking on more risk than you are yourself.
