Rutgers outlasts Minnesota in back-and-forth battle
Rutgers men’s basketball outlasted Minnesota 76-72 in Big Ten play Thursday night in Piscataway.
Minnesota began the night from behind immediately but battled back from a 9-0 deficit.
The game featured a total of 22 lead changes.
Marcus Carr led the team with 18 points but couldn’t lift the team late. Carr’s potential go-ahead shot missed off the front end of the rim with 32 seconds left and Rutgers grabbed the rebound, drawing a Gopher foul. They would cash in with two free throws to go up three.
On the next possession, Carr would air-ball a three-point attempt that would’ve tied the game.
Minnesota is now 11-7 overall and 4-7 in conference games.
