Runners enjoy bliss of spring at Grandad Half Marathon
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Around 1,500 runners participated in the Grandad Half Marathon events Saturday morning.
A 5K run/walk took runners through downtown La Crosse.
The main attraction, the half marathon, took runners down Bliss Rd. before heading south past All-Star Lanes and finishing at Riverside Park.
That may be quite the distance but Michael Borst, a volunteer with the event, said the community has plenty of people looking to stay active with races like this.
“Especially now that we’ve gotten through our tough winter, people just want to be out and do something and have something to work towards over the winter. So, this is a way to kick off the year and get active and get moving in La Crosse,” said Borst.
There were also races for kids at Riverside park in the afternoon.
