Rotary Lights getting 300,000 food item donations through the end of the month

For the 25th year, Rotary Lights is brightening up Riverside Park.

Besides all the fun activities going on, a big reason for Rotary Lights is to help local food pantries.

Officials say Rotary Lights gets many donations from people who visit Riverside Park.

Rotary Lights has gotten about the same amount of food donations as last year, even though this year they’ve had six days fewer to work with.

“Even if it comes in at the same, or a little bit less than last year, we’ll be very pleased with it,” Rotary Lights president Pat Stephens said. “The generosity of the community is outstanding. We’ll have 300 and some thousand items of food that have been collected. So, we’ll be pleased.

Stephens says once Rotary Lights gets the donations, they then give them away to 14 food pantries as well as the Hunger Task Force of La Crosse.
